Trollius x cultorum 'Cheddar' (Globeflower)

Thumbnail Photo

Supposedly more vigorous than 'Alabaster', this cool and stylish plant is great for that moist spot. Pale yellow petals form a double row with darker yellow obvious stamens. And again, while they like moisture, I really have experienced this guy to be a workhorse. I grow it in shade where it will bloom not as abundant as in full sun, but it does bloom. And I've grown it in dry gardens, and full sun with good results. I do cut it back when it is done blooming and as yet, have not had a second flush of bloom as I do with the Trollius europaeus varieties.

Combine with fancy daffodil, or one of the shorter hardy blue grasses.
