Paeonia lactiflora 'Karl Rosenfield' (Peony)

Extremely hardy and extremely floriferous, with up to 50 blooms per mature plant, according to Daisy Lee on the Ridge. Brilliant fuchsia-red blooms are double. Early to mid-summer.

Paeonia need to planted no deeper than 1-2 inches. Deeper results in nice foliage but no blooms. Humus-rich soil and excellent drainage. pH 6.5 ideal. Foliage is attractive all summer.

Combine with Rosa 'Polstjarnan', Clematis 'Rosey O'Grady', or Lupinus 'The Chatelaine'.
