An old-time favorite, candytuft is a charming plant for perennial gardens. Because of its drought tolerance, it makes a great filler for crevices in walls or between the stones of walkways. It is also effective as edging or groundcover.

'Alaska' is the classic Shasta Daisy and is the most common cultivar available. Huge 3 inch wide flowers are pure white with yellow centers and are borne on long 2-3 foot stems which are perfect for cutting. This is the hardiest strain of Shasta available. Shasta Daisies are all-time favorites for the perennial border. The cheery flowers begin to appear in early summer and continue on for several months if faithfully deadheaded. Shastas mix so effortlessly with other perennials that no garden should be without them!

Leucanthemum x superbum 'Banana Cream' (Shasta Daisy)

If you haven't seen this new one, you don't subscribe to any magazines! It's everywhere and there is a reason. Introduced by Walter's Gardens after their field trials showed the vase life of 'Banana Cream' is well over 2 weeks. The early 4-inch-wide lemon yellow bloom continues to brighten to light butter yellow and finally to creamy white. The extra row of ray petals creates a fuller appearance than the usual Shasta daisies. We've tried to keep this one affordable so everyone can enjoy it.

Lilium 'Fangio' (L.A. Hybrid Lily)

Plum-colored petals and darker stamens grab your eye wherever they bloom in your gardens. So many other perennials are complimented by this great lily. Dicentra eximia 'Luxuriant' blooms all summer and although the foliage and flowers are opposite the lily, they make a great combination. (Photos courtesy of Dr. Annie Nevaldine.)

Grow on dry side to avoid bulb rot. Push a couple of sticks of chalk in beside the bulbs each spring for a "timed-release" feed. Removing the orange center pistils will add bloom time.
