Saponaria ocymoides (Soapwort)

Excellent ground-hugging cover for rock gardens. Tiny leaves and small pink flowers look almost fragile. Don't confuse with it's cousin Saponaria officinalis, which bounces all over the garden. Saponaria ocymoides does not bounce. It forms a mat that blossoms into a deep pink pillow of bloom.

Veronica 'Sunny Border Blue' (Speedwell)

Many years ago the Alaska Botanical Garden announced this veronica was one of the very few plants that survived a really bad winter in Anchorage. In 1993, the Perennial Plant Association named this the plant of the year. It?s an oldie, but a goody. Dark violet blue flower spikes. Very sturdy, stocky plant. Combine with viola ?Etaine?, monarda ?Fireball?, lilium ?Dazzle?.
