Cerastium tomentosum 'Yo Yo' (Snow in Summer)

Thumbnail Photo

I'm planting this one just because I smile when I say the name. But for the rest of you, 'Yo Yo' is very easy to grow in almost any soils. The small woolly gray/silver leaves form a low carpet smothering out most weeds. This new variety is a bit more restrained and compact than the species. The flowers are the absolutely whitest flower ever, almost luminous. Combine with spring bulbs, or for opposite foliage type, Ajuga 'Dixie Chip'. Or just use this beauty alone in a border.

One of the absolute best plants for bordering paths or edging gardens. Heavy bloomer with bright white flowers and silver, fern-like foliage makes grand mounds.
